Aunt Vicky :]

A while back, Joey had a day off of school so we ran some errands, and visited Aunt Vicky at school!!!  She basically stopped her entire class to hang with me and Joey, but don't tell her kid's parents that :]!  It was so much fun to see Vicky in her element and fun to see her read to Joey :]

Joey loves to be read to and this was an amazing treat for her that day!!!

Books For Joey....

So we are slowly getting back into the groove of things here at the Stout house.  I actually took Joey to the library today for the first time in about {how old is Sam???  Oh yeah...} 3 and a half months!  I think we got some good books for our little lady....here goes!

{This cover just looked so cute, and I didn't even notice till we got home that the words coming out of her megaphone are "I'm a big sister".  This should be a cute one}

{She loves If you give a mouse a cookie, so I thought we'd give this one a try!!  Oh and I didn't realize it was Christmas-y, but that totally works for us seeing as how I have already started singing her Christmas Carols because if I have to sing "Happy and You Know It" one more time, I won't be clapping my hands :]}

200th Post :) Library Fun!!

So when I started this little blog in 2007 I had a vision of a digital scrapbook/journal of our life as a family! I have had so much fun letting y'all take a peek inside our world, and hope that you have enjoyed it too!  Each year I have upped my posts and I plan on doing the same this year! Thanks to my 13 "followers"!  It makes me happy to know that at least 13 people are paying attention to this thing :)

On with the library fun :)  It's Tuesday and we know what that means, Joey has some new books from the library!  Here's what we got...

I mean, this one just looks cool!  We shall see :)

We own Lilly's Purple Purse and we love it, so I went for this one hoping it would live up to the other book we already know and love :)

Joey saw this book and she said "Bella's Sippers!!!"  We just returned Belinda and the Glass Slippers and she loved it!  We have also checked out another Belinda book and Joey has loved them all...we will see if this is the same!

This one is self explanatory!  Our kid has a crazy obsession with anything Dora and now she talks about Diego too.  I didn't hunt for this book, but found it on a random shelf and figured it was divine intervention, so I pounced on it!

I just realized that I downloaded a picture without a title on it.....Oh well, this is the cover artwork for Elmer's Special Day!  We own Elmer and love this patchwork elephant!  I had no idea there was another book in the series and I can't wait to read this 2nd book!!

Last Library trip we got Firefighter Ted and Joey loved it!  Firefighter Ted kept "saving" people and "helping them to safety"!!  It was super cute, and I hope this one is just as cute as the other one :)

So, um, yeah!  Any favorites of yours that I need to read to our little girl {or our big girl as she calls herself...the other day she said "I no go potty, I'm a big girl"...so cute!} or books that your parents read to you that made a lasting impression on your little minds???

Oh and 1 last thing...notice there are no "Licious" books this Library trip!  That's cause Aunt Vicky got Joey her very own copy of Pinkalicious!  She opened it and said "My Licious" and sat down to read it on the spot!!  So much fun!!!  Here's the evidence!

Libraries Rock :)

2 Weeks have gone by and another set of books are back at the library!  I went tonight and got a whole new set :)  The great thing about library books are that you never have to get bored because you don't have to have them that long if you don't want to!  Every time I go, I usually bring back some books that Joey loves and some that she loves to talk through :)  I take note and go back for more 2 weeks later!  Here are the gems I picked up today :)

This one is from the same author of the "Llama Llama" books :)

This looked like so much fun!  Animals that love to sing??  Sign me up please :)

We had another Sergio book last time and Joey didn't chitter chatter through the whole thing, so I went for the sequel!

We also had a Belinda book from the last library trip, and I just loved her big feet :)  So naturally I went for another Belinda book :)

I've heard this book rocks :)

And a crowd favorite...Purplicious!  Joey just loves these "licious" books!

A Trip To The Library!!

So we haven't been to the Library in a while.....{I think a month}!  It's been a crazy month, and this upcoming month will be about the same, so hopefully we won't go a whole month again in between visits this time!  We got some good books, and I know that because we have to continually get this one book, and the others I know are good because we read when we got home!  Here they are...

This is a book that Joey asks for all the time!  There are 3 in the Pinkalicious series, so we just rotate between the 3 each time we go to the library! 

*We love this book, it's about a girl who loves the color pink :)  On a rainy day, she and her mom make pink cupcakes.  She eats a few too many and turns pink herself!  It's super cute, and even cuter when Joey says "I want Licious"!!  I recommend this book to anyone!!

Joey's current obsession is Dora anything!  Her bday party is going to be Dora themed because of the obsession!  She saw this book and we had to get it!

*We got home and read the book, and it's designed for older kids to learn how to read.  It puts recognizable pictures with words underneath them mid sentence so that kids can see the picture and read the word!  The book is cute, and way better than a 25 minute Dora show episode!  We will be checking more of these out in the future!

I got this book because the cover looked so much fun!  I'm all about judging books by their cover!!!  

*We got home and read this one too!  It's about a boy who loves to chew gum and there is a bully who is picking on him all the time.  He learns to blow crazy bubbles and the boy can't make fun of him anymore until he blows this super huge bubble on the cover that sends him soaring in the air!  The book is super cute and Johnny likes it because it rhymed all the way to the end!!

We have already read Llama Llama Misses Mama, and loved it!  We had to get this one because the first one was so cute!!

*This one is about taking your little one shopping which we all know can be oh so much fun!  Anywho, we read this one when we got home too and loved it!  Llama Llama books are so cute!

This was a "grab on the way out" book, and it was the cover that grabbed me!!

*This is about a girl who was born with super huge feet :)  She was cast in the school play as a clown because of them, but decides after watching another girl that she wants to do ballet with those big old feet.  Johnny read this one to Joey before bed tonight, and it was super cute!

Who doesn't love penguins??  I got this one based on the cover, it just looks so cute!  We have not read this one yet!!

I got this one based off of an internet search for children's books.  It came highly recommended and looked like a good one! We shall see!

I got this one because it has the word Tumble in the title :)  No seriously, that was the qualifying factor!  Looks like a rhyming book, and I'm sure we will like it once we get to reading it!

I've decided to put a little * and write the reviews as I read the books!  I love getting suggestions from other people, and maybe they will want mine :)  Let me know if you know of any good books we can get for Joey to read!!!

Books :)

So we got back from the library not too long ago and picked up some awesome books!  Thanks for all the suggestions everyone...I actually remembered my list this time and was pleasantly surprised to find most of the books on my list!  Here's what we got...

This one was round aboutly {don't worry, I know this isn't a word} recommended by my friend Laurie...she actually recommended Please, Puppy, Please, but they didn't have it, so we got this one by the same author!  It looks cute, and I can't wait to read it...Joey loves babies!!

Laurie also suggested the Little Critter books, so we chose this one!

I'm glad Laurie recommended this book...it's one of the one's I remember my mom reading to my sister and me growing up!  I had forgotten about it, but can't wait to read it to Joey!

The Llama Llama series was recommended by my friend Pam! There are others, but this was the only one our library had today, so we will start here :)

Pam also suggested the Olivia books!  My cousin's first child is named Olivia and she is stinkin' cute, so I figured we couldn't go wrong with any book in the series because if they are 1/2 as cute as my 2nd cousin Olivia, then we are in luck!  We will start with the original!

We have been reading the "ilicious" series {as I like to call them} and haven't been disappointed yet!  We actually read this one tonight, and it's super cute!  These books are so creative, and I really have enjoyed them!

This was our last book choice for the next few weeks...I like to pick one based on the cover :)  This looked fun, so I nabbed it!  We will see how it turns out!

Wishful Wednesday......Book Character

So Kelsey at the Seattle Smiths poses the question below on her Wishful Wednesday Topic this week....

'I wish' .... I could play a character's role in a book and it would be __________!

Now that I have a child, my answer to this question is certainly reflective of that! Take a look :)

'I wish' .... I could play a character's role in a book and it would be one of the girls in the Backyardigans Books!

So these guys are really from a TV show, and I just happened to know that they also made books, so I guess I cheated the topic just a little by answering the way I did {I call it creativity}!!

These kids are so much fun!  They remind of how important it is to let your kids be kids, and how much fun it was to be a kid!  The object of the show/books is that these kids play in their backyard and create different adventures just by using their imagination!  Oh to be a kid again :)  Here are a few titles I found online...

 

  

  

  

Things like this make me long for the day when we have a backyard for Joey and Sam to play in!  These kids come up with the coolest things to do, and they always end the day with a SNACK!!  Yummo :)

It's Library Day :)

So I loved getting everyone's suggestions on what books to get for Joey's reading enjoyment!  Please keep the ideas coming :)  I totally forgot my list of what everyone said, so this is what we ended up with when we headed to the library tonight....hopefully we got some good ones!!

I got this one purely based off of the cover illustration :)  Looks like it could be a good one!

I got this one because Joey has this crazy obsession with dogs right now, and her Dedechek's name is Carl!!

We got this one because I liked the other book we got by Jamie Lee Curtis, and when I flipped through the pages of this one, it looks super cute!

I got this one because I just love Miss Spider!  She's so cute and the illustrator of these books is amazing...all the illustrations are so captivating and interesting to look at!

I got this one because I love music and so does Joey...end of story :)

I couldn't remember where I had heard about this book till I got home, but it had dogs on it, and again, Joey has an obsession with dogs these days!!  My friend amanda read it to her daughter while I was at her house one day, it is super cute!!!
